James started JD Haspel in 2006 and now oversees some of the firm’s biggest client relationships. He has managed hundreds of global, regional and local assignments across a range of business lines and corporate functions during his 23 years in executive search.
James has earned a reputation for great execution and delivery, and has broad financial services industry knowledge. He has developed a strong team-based culture within the firm where every person plays a valuable role. He is a diversity and inclusion champion and has a strong core value system where fairness, authenticity and transparency figure highly. He works closely with other members of the leadership team to ensure employees have the best platform to succeed.
He joined Russell Reynolds Associates in 1997 and went on to lead the UK global banking practice, subsequently co-founding a new boutique search firm in the early 2000s. He started his career with Deloitte before moving into HR at Bankers Trust in 1989 as a reward specialist. He went on to join NatWest Markets in 1995 as the head HR for the fixed income and derivative businesses.
He graduated from the University of Kent in 1988 with a degree in Management Science.
